Ai Weiwei does a dissident Gangnam Style dance on YouTube

Who's the coolest dissident on the web right now?

Artist and activist Ai Weiwei is reconfirming his place in top spot by taking the piss out of the censorship-happy Chinese government and a portly South Korean rapper at the same time.

Ai shamelessly throws himself into his own rendition of Psy's “Gangnam Style” horsey moves in a new video posted to YouTube. According to the New York Daily News, Ai’s “Grass-Mud Horse Style” riffs off an Internet meme that pokes fun and criticizes online censorship in China.

China, as you'll remember, has barred Ai from leaving the country due to "tax evasion", but thanks to postings like these, the government is having little luck shutting the internet-savvy dissident up.

We know from the documentary Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry, which premiered here at DOXA this year, that the Chinese government is not amused by his massive international art installations. They've included blistering commentaries on students buried by an earthquake in Sichuan. (Online he also used a Twitter campaign for different people to each read aloud the name of an earthquake victim.)

We say, rock on Ai.
