The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors the JCC Jewish Book Festival

      The 28th annual Cherie Smith JCCGV Jewish Book Festival takes place at the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver (950 West 41st Avenue) from November 24 to 29. The festival features writers from across Canada, the U.S., and Israel, and events include meet-the-author opportunities, literary readings, panel discussions, a book club event, writing and self-publishing workshops, film screenings, food events, and two on-site bookstores.

      New York author Shalom Auslander (Hope: A Tragedy) will help kick off the festival at the opening gala. Other featured authors include Tzeporah Berman (This Crazy Time), novelist Lilian Natel (Web of Angels), Ilan Danjoux (Political Cartoons and the Israeli Palestinian Conflict), psychologist and dog expert Stanley Coren (Do Dogs Dream?: Nearly Everything Your Dog Wants You to Know), culinary journalist Gil Hovav, and Giller Prize longlist nominee Cary Fagan.
