Sydney Rothery: 1966–2007

The staff of the Georgia Straight extend our deepest condolences to the family of Sydney Rothery, who died recently after a courageous battle with cancer. Sydney (seen here with her husband, Colin) was a beloved former retail sales manager who played a major role in the growth and success of the Georgia Straight. She was a warm, compassionate, loving colleague whose charisma and character will never be forgotten. She attracted many talented staff members to the Georgia Straight. May Sydney's very best qualities, and there were many, live on in her children, Angus and Eve, and in her stepson, Hale. Sydney, who was 40, is also survived by her adoring husband, Colin; her mother, Sonia; her father, Earl; her brother, Jason; her sister, Tasha; and too many friends to mention. A celebration of Sydney's life will be held on Wednesday (July 4) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 1402 McRae Avenue in Vancouver. Please R.S.V.P. to spattison@shaw.ca.
