On January 12, 8 p.m., Cinema in Concert takes place at the Orpheum Theatre (601 Smithe Street).

The event sees Beijing's 80-member China Broadcasting Film Symphony Orchestra perform dramatic themes from favourite Oscar-winning films as iconic scenes play on a screen.

Led by conductor Pang Ka Pang, the ensemble will perform selections from the soundtracks of Braveheart, Casablanca, Jurassic World, Legends of the Fall, Pirates of the Caribbean, and classics from the Chinese Movie Music Collection.

Tickets for Cinema in Concert start at $29 and are available online.
