From December 28 to 30, Alberta Ballet's The Nutcracker takes over the Queen Elizabeth Theatre (630 Hamilton Street).
Presented by Ballet BC, the holiday classic tells the story of a young girl whose nutcracker prince comes to life and takes her on a magical adventure.
Set in turn-of-the-century Imperial Russia, this production sees the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra perform Tchaikovsky's score and features a cast of 70 dancers from the local community.
Also highlighted is the choreography of Edmund Stripe and sets and costumes by Emmy Award-winning designer Zack Brown.
In a press release, Ballet BC artistic director Emily Molnar says that "The Nutcracker is unforgettable family entertainment that is sure to enrich your holiday season."
