With the scale of Trevor Hoffmann's marriage proposal under the twinkling lights of the Vancouver Christmas Market, you may wonder what kind of followup awaits at the wedding ceremony. Turns out he's got big plans for that too.

The market and Palette Creative have shared video of the proposal at the Jack Poole Plaza this week, and it includes a singing flash mob made up of 40 professional choir members from the Lower Mainland.

The choir serenaded the couple with their favorite song, "Seasons of Love" from the Broadway musical Rent.

As you may have guessed, Hoffmann has a thing for music (as well as for fiance Bobo Zhao, whose surprise is priceless in the video): he's composer-in-residence at the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra and a well-known pianist around town.

As for Zhao, she's a China-born photographer who now calls Vancouver her home.

They also happen to be stars of the documentary series Chinese Cultural Connection, which airs on the Chinese International Channel CCTV4. The marriage proposal is part of the final episode of the show about interracial couples.

And as for the wedding plans for the happy couple? They're even more dramatic: the couple intends to tie the knot in early 2019 in a French castle.
