In celebration of the Year of the Dog, the Asian-Canadian Special Events Association and Oakridge Centre presents activities like the Tunnel of the Blessings, where 888 lanterns will be available to carry good wishes for visitors. Also at Oakridge Centre is the Perfect Year of the Dog, in which you can try to rub good luck off from the 10 large golden-dog sculptures, and Moon Crawl, a large ball pit in which you must search for the right breed of dog.

At the Vancouver Playhouse, the Ballet Productions Canada Society and Coastal City Ballet present The Butterfly Lovers, a ballet that was inspired by one of the four great Chinese folkales.

Finally, at the Vancouver Art Gallery Plaza, the public can check out a market as well Year of the Dog celebrations by cultural groups from Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Mongolia, China, Taiwan, and Slovakia.
