Alexandra Montgomery steps down from helm of Bill Reid Gallery
The Bill Reid Gallery has announced its director and CEO is stepping down.
After leading the Indigenous-art gallery for four years through an extensive renovation process, Alexandra Montgomery is moving to Banff, where her husband Howard Jang has become vice-president of arts and leadership at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. She had come to the gallery from the Gardiner Museum in Toronto.
On June 8, the Bill Reid Gallery will reopen after a $1.5 million, six-month renovation by Merrick Architecture to expand its programs. The makeover will create more exhibition space, a dedicated programming space, and a more welcoming lobby.
Curator Beth Carter will lead the Bill Reid Gallery on an interim basis. The board of the Bill Reid Foundation has retained the services of H.J. Meredith Group for the search of Montgomery’s successor.
