For its upcoming 36th annual event, the Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards will be returning to a theatre venue--a very well-known, outdoor one, in fact.

On Monday, July 16, the ceremony takes place at Bard on the Beach's BMO Mainstage in Vanier Park. In recent years, the event has been held at the Commodore Ballroom.

"Looking back, previous awards ceremonies were held in theatre venues. The Jessie Committee decided to take the awards back to Vancouver’s Professional Theatre Community and in addition create a model that was sustainable for the future of the Jessie Awards," the society behind the event said in a press statement.

Tickets for the awards will go on sale Monday, May 28 at noon; look for more info here. 

And look for nominations for the city's most coveted theatre awards at Straight.com when they're released the evening of May 27.

Meanwhile, the Jessies have also launched a new brand look and website, with everything from a prominent bio on the awards' namesake to photos from over the years and details on all the awards.
