The 26th edition of West of Main Art Walk takes place the weekend of June 2 and 3, with over 30 locations showcasing the work of local artists in both solo and group shows. Visitors are invited to wander through backyard studios, galleries, and storefronts, meet the artists, and learn more about their process and what inspires them. Expect to be immersed in a range of styles and media; colourful landscapes, abstract paintings, digital photo collage, sculpture, fabric art and wear-ables, enamel and jewelry, ceramics, photography, illustrations, pottery, and more.

Olga Campbell, one of the featured artists this year, works in digital photo collage, mixed-media painting, and sculpture. Starting with a digital photograph, Campbell adds layer upon layer of drawing, following her intuition to create an image. “I tend not to have an idea, the process leads me somewhere,” says Campbell.

A jeweller, enamel artist, and painter, Peggy Logan—another featured artist at the Art Walk—is a recent graduate of Emily Carr University of Art + Design. Her finely crafted jewelry pieces often reference nature and the world around her. “Light in the Forest,” a cloisonné brooch, was inspired by a misty walk Logan took on a forest trail near Sooke.

You may happen upon the whimsical pottery of Nancy Walker, who creates lively and humorous pieces from clay. Her Life Boats and Gathering Bowls play with scale and might be edged with birds, crows, elephants or octopuses, and are always a fantastic conversation-starter.
