Due to "unforeseen circumstances", the Zorá String Quartet is no longer able to open the Vancouver Recital Society 2018-19 season at the Vancouver Playhouse on September 23.

But founder and artistic director Leila Getz has announced she's found a replacement: the rapidly emerging young London-based Castalian String Quartet. The venue, date, and time of the performance are unchanged.

The recital will mark London quartet's Vancouver debut, with a program that features Joseph Haydn’s String Quartet in D, Op. 76, No. 5, Gabriel Fauré’s String Quartet in E minor, Op. 121, and Robert Schumann’s String Quartet No. 1 in A minor, Op. 41, No. 1.

Their pedigree includes two prestigious wins this year: the inaugural Merito String Quartet Award & Valentin Erben Prize, and a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship Award.

It's played around the globe, including Wigmore Hall, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, and the Heidelberger Frühling Festival.

Single tickets go on sale August 1; see more information here.
