Parents on the hunt for stimulating activities for a summer day are in luck—and this one comes without the UV rays.

On the weekend, the Vancouver Art Gallery’s Family FUSE event is rolling out everything from a deejaying demo to playful spoken-word workshops, weaving and basketmaking, and DIY cabinmaking.

The theme for all the activities filling the gallery halls is Listen to the Land, a celebration of our relationship to the earth and the landscape here. Between hitting the sketch stations and film screenings, you and your kids can take in exhibits like Cabin Fever, Kevin Schmidt’s We Are the Robots, and more.

Family FUSE Weekend takes place from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday (August 25 and 26). For more information, visit the Vancouver Art Gallery website.
