Vancouver Cantata Singers presents Threnody: Requiem and Remembrance

    1 of 2 2 of 2

(Community announcement by Vancouver Cantata Singers)

Herbert Howells’ Requiem for unaccompanied voices is an exquisite and deeply personal work, which the composer himself later turned to for inspiration after experiencing the most profound personal loss of his son.

Jean Coulthard’s Threnody was composed in memory of her mother. John Tavener’s Song for Athene was written as a tribute to a young actress and friend killed in a cycling accident.

Music can comfort our hearts in times of mourning and loss. At this time of year, when we honour those no longer with us, join the Vancouver Cantata Singers as they explore and share choral music of consolation and reflection from across the pond and home.
