(Community announcement by Vancouver New Music)
Vancouver-based flutist Mark Takeshi McGregor has been praised for his “mind blowing” performances of “huge physical energy” (Times Colonist). Clarinetist Liam Hockley is emerging as a musical talent to watch – an artist for whom “alternative or avant-garde approaches to his instrument are only part of the everyday tool kit” (Georgia Straight).T
Taking their respective instruments into varied musical territories, this concert will feature recent works for flute, clarinet and electronics, including world premiere performances of Canadian composer Yota Kobayashi’s "Duo Augmented", and Iranian composer Kimia K. Yazdi’s "Displacement II".
Also on the program are works by Mark Andre, Luigi Nono, Salvatore Sciarrino, and Jane Stanley.
