A free outdoor exhibition is returning to Yaletown next week—city-dwellers who enjoy art and pops of colour should mark their calendars for this event.

Illuminate Yaletown will be celebrating its 10th anniversary on March 8 with a series of light displays in the trendy neighbourhood (Hamilton Street will be closed to vehicles for the night), which will showcase new and classic light-art installations.

Presented by the Yaletown Business Improvement Association, interactive exhibitions will be available for visitors to check out, including “Flow” (a sculpture sensitive to touch), “Jax” (a giant inflatable game piece), and “Tetra” (encourages guests to build their own installation).

Many interactive exhibitions will be on display, including "Flow".

Other fun elements at the family-friendly event include LED dancers, an infinity mirror world, 12-foot lit-up foliage wall, LED swings, and a digital graffiti wall.

“Many of the installations have been designed to incorporate the viewer as part of the installation, so you can play with it, see how it responds to your touch and even build with it,” Annette O’Shea, executive director of the Yaletown BIA, said in a press statement. “This is very much about how technology, design and light blend to create engaging and provoking experiences.”

Many Yaletown bars, such as House Special, White Lounge, and Opus Bar, will be offering a special sunset-themed cocktail throughout the night.
