The City of Vancouver has just appointed Natalie Lue, the former CEO of the Mississauga Living Arts Centre, the new director of Vancouver Civic Theatres.
Lue, who starts her new job June 3, will oversee operations for four theatres: the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, the Orpheum, the Vancouver Playhouse, and the Annex.
The Mississauga Living Arts Centre houses three theatres and is a not-for-profit, charitable organization with 400,000 visitors a year. In her position there for the last three years, Lue has steered strategic planning, program development, and service delivery, administrative functions, budgets, and facilities development. Lue was previously vice-president of production and visitor experience for the Toronto International Film Festival.
She sits as v.p. on the board of directors of Ontario Presents and takes part in peer assessment juries for the City of Toronto and the Toronto Arts Council
Former Vancouver Civic Theatres director Sandra Gajic, who had held the position since 2014, left to oversee the Overture Center for the Arts in Madison, Wisconsin, last fall.
