The City of Vancouver has proclaimed today, May 11, as Ballet BC Day.

The honour was bestowed to recognize artistic director Emily Molnar's 10th anniversary with the company.

In the press announcement today, the City commended the troupe for becoming "celebrated around the world, and an integral part of the arts and culture fabric in the City of Vancouver."

That international recognition has Ballet BC heading out on the road for more touring this spring and summer: May 21 in DesMoines, June 13 to 15 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, June 19 to 23 at Jacob's Pillow festival in Massachusetts, and on to Stuttgart, Barcelona, and more.

A celebration and reception take place to fete the anniversary and the proclamation tonight right after the closing production of Program 3 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.
