      (Community announcement by Kokoro Dance)

Kokoro Dance presents the world premiere of Reading the Bones, a work for five dancers distilled from the 33-year history of Kokoro Dance’s butoh-inspired creations, reimagining choreography from their past works, and setting their powerful, provocative, and passionate movement on Katie Cassady, Molly McDermott, Deanna Peters, Salomé Nieto, and Barbara Bourget.

This 50-year multi-generational spread of ages gives uniquely rich and deep nuances to the performances. Through primordial humanistic gestures, tremulous cycles of breathing, and out-of-the-body movement, they convey the trials and vulnerability of different stages of life and being. Music for the new work is by Joseph Hirabayashi; lighting by Gerald King. Tickets from $25- $30 (buy one $30 ticket and get one free on Wednesday nights).
