Vancouver composer Rodney Sharman wins 2013 Dora Award

      Vancouver composer Rodney Sharman is among the winners of the 2013 Dora Mavor Moore Awards, which recognize excellence in the performing arts.

      Sharman is the recipient of the outstanding sound design/composition award in the dance division for his score for From the House of Mirth.

      A work mixing dance and music, From the House of Mirth is based on a 1905 novel by U.S writer Edith Wharton.

      The annual Dora prizes—covering dozens of categories in theatre, opera, and dance—are administered by Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts.

      The awards were handed out during a ceremony in Toronto on June 24.
