For the second year in a row, Gateway Theatre has brought Chinese-language productions before local audiences.

In its 2015 Pacific Festival, the Richmond-based live professional theatre featured four shows from Hong Kong and Canada from September 3 to the September 26.

In a media release Monday (September 28), Gateway Theatre reported that ticket revenue was three times more than last year’s inaugural event.

“The outpouring of support was simply overwhelming,” artistic director Jovanni Sy said in the release.

“Our shows brought people together,” Sy said in the release. “Our surtitles allowed both Chinese- and English-speakers to enjoy our shows. Generations of families connected over our programming – parents who primarily speak Chinese attended alongside their children who mainly speak English.”
