Diabetes is often called “the silent killer”, but now the deadly disease has found its voice. Or at least its victims have, thanks to composer (and Type 1 diabetes sufferer) Michael Park.

Park’s new interactive chamber opera, Diagnosis: Diabetes makes its debut at the Orpheum Annex this Saturday (October 10), courtesy of the Erato Ensemble and a 10-member cast of skilled singers and players. At the very least, it’s a chance to learn more about the consequences of diabetes, which include blindness, impotence, and nerve damage—or even death. How often can we say that an opera could save your life?
