The Vancouver International Bhangra Celebration Society (VIBC) marks two decades of celebrating South Asian creativity this year, and it’s ringing in the fete with the return of the 5X Fest. Taking place from June 13 to 16, the festival hits Surrey and Vancouver with a celebration of South Asian music, wellness, and art taking centre stage.

The seventh-annual festival’s lineup includes its signature event—the 5X Blockparty—taking place at Surrey Civic Plaza, featuring live music, food vendors, art installations, and a marketplace to buy clothing and more.

The 5X Art Party, curated by queer floral artist Ritesh Matlani, will take place at Vancouver’s Beaumont Studios on June 14, and promises music, art, and connections with other creatives.

This year, the festival adds Self Care Sunday with 5X, a wellness event featuring South Asian wellness influencers Gurnaz Sandhu, Joty Kay, and Priya Sidhu talking about breathwork, meditation, journalling, and movement, happening at Vancouver’s And-Co Offices on June 16.

On top of the feature events, 5X Fest will also feature 5X Access, a networking event to connect industry professionals in the music industry.
