Ballet BC to tour to U.K. for first time, as well as to New York's Joyce Theatre
Ballet BC is headed to Europe for the first time, as well as New York and Ottawa.
The tour announcement was just made, with news the company will take a unique international all-female-choreographer program to Birmingham, U.K., Ottawa, and the Big Apple this spring.
The program will feature performances of Crystal Pite's Solo Echo, Sharon Eyal'sBill, and Emily Molnar's yet-to-premiere 16 + a room in May and June of this year.
The U.K. appearance will be at the International Dance Festival Birmingham at the Birmingham Hippodrome.
The company will perform in New York at one of its most renowned dance venues: the Joyce Theatre.
And in the nation's capital, it will appear at the Canada Dance Festival at the National Arts Centre Theatre.
Since taking over the company in 2009, artistic director Emily Molnar has made it her goal to get the company out into the world. In recent years, that's meant appearances everywhere from Jacob's Pillow in Massachussetts to Portland, Oregon.
