Borealis String Quartet takes up residence at Kwantlen Polytechnic University

      Kwantlen Polytechnic University is getting some talented company for the next year. of this week, the Borealis String Quartet is KPU’s string quartet-in-residence.

      The quartet will spend the next 12 months working with the university. During that time, they will perform at Borealis String Fests alongside groups including the Surrey Symphony Society’s youth orchestra, Richmond Delta Youth Orchestra, and West Vancouver Youth Band’s string ensembles.

      The internationally celebrated musicians will also help build a secondary string program through continuing education as well as create scholarship opportunities for budding musicians.

      The Vancouver-based group’s home base will be KPU’s Langley campus, but they will be sharing their talents with music students in Surrey, Langley, Richmond, Delta, and Vancouver.

      Winning acclaim for their passionate, emotive music, the Borealis String Quartet has performed to sold-out audiences around the world, from Beijing to Rome. They have also served as string quartet-in-residence at other universities and festivals across North America.

      The beginning of their residence was celebrated with a chamber and orchestral music concert in conjunction with the Langley Fine Arts School.
