Have you walked through Mount Pleasant or the Downtown Eastside lately?

If you have, you've probably noticed that certain buildings in each area are becoming a little more colourful, thanks to the addition of some eye-catching murals on the exteriors of places like the Hootsuite headquarters on East 8th Avenue, and MakersLab on East Cordova.

Along with these two locations, 20 other walls in the city are being donned with more than 40 murals as part of the first annual Vancouver Mural Festival.

While organizers are gearing up to celebrate the city's newest pieces of public art this Saturday (August 20) in Mount Pleasant, artists are putting the finishing touches on their murals.

Want to find out what it takes to create a masterpiece at such a large scale? Watch this video to get an inside look at a few of the murals that are on their way to being completed.
