Arts Club Theatre artistic managing director Bill Millerd's final season lineup was announced today, highlighting new Canadian work, with three new Canadian plays.
The locally created premieres are Thanks for Giving, by Governor General’s Award–winning playwright Kevin Loring; Forget About Tomorrow, by Jill Daum (of Mom’s the Word fame, and inspired by her own experiences of having her husband, Spirit of the West frontman John Mann, diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's ); and Me and You by Melody Anderson (among other things, a cocreator of the wildly popular Axis Theatre comedy, The Number 14).
In addition, the season will mark the return of two recent hit premieres: Mom’s the Word 3: Nest ½ Empty and Onegin, by Amiel Gladstone and Veda Hille.
They're rounded out by the Canadian premieres of the recent Broadway hit The Humans, the ABBA-inspired mega-musical Mamma Mia!, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Tony Kushner's epic Angels in America, Part Two: Perestroika, the West End blockbuster King Charles III, and William Goldman's take on Stephen King's Misery.
The full roster is below. You can read Millerd's reflections on his choices, as well as his 45-year history at the Arts Club, here.
