Next April, the Capture Photography Festival will be bringing the work of Vancouver photographers to galleries across the city, and it’s time to start brainstorming potential exhibitions.
Proposals for Selected Exhibitions, Open Exhibitions, and events will be accepted from September 13 to October 20 through Capture’s online submissions portal. Proposals can engage with any subject matter, with creative ideas and outdoor events encouraged.
This year, submissions to the Open Exhibition Program are free with a $10 membership to the Capture Photography Festival Society. Submissions to the Selected Exhibition Program are $300, with not-for-profits exempt.
Selected Exhibition Program submissions must take place in art-specific spaces, and are subject to jury evaluation. If selected, these exhibitions are given priority in the festival's promotional materials. Submissions to the Open Exhibition Program are less strict on location, but still have the opportunity to participate in festival events like artist talks and exhibition tours.
If you’re interested in submitting but feel overwhelmed by the process, Capture Staff are running a submissions process open house on Wednesday, September 27. Interested parties should come equipped with their questions and proposal materials.
The annual general meeting for the Capture Photography Festival Society will be held on Tuesday, September 19. Non-members interested in attending can purchase a membership at the meeting.
