A 1960s-set As You Like It and a classic Macbeth will duel it out on the mainstage of Bard on the Beach next season.

Though its summer 2017 season continues to September 23, the Shakespeare festival today unveiled its 2018 lineup, which runs from from June 6 to September 22 in Vanier Park.

Daryl Cloran, who helmed the musical version of Love's Labour's Lost two years agao at Bard, is set to helm the retro, Vancouver-set As You Like It, powering it with Beatles music. Meanwhile, the Crow's Theatre's Chris Abraham takes the reins on Macbeth next year.

On the smaller Howard Family Stage, Bard will present a rarely presented Shakespearean drama, Timon of Athens, with a cast led by fest favourite Colleen Wheeler. Meg Roe directs.

Lois Anderson brought creative vision to Pericles at Bard on the Beach last year; now she'll bring it to the Greek work Lysistrata.

It alternates with a contemporary reimagining of the Greek play Lysistrata, an ancient comedy about the first women's strike--this one with a Vancouver setting and an environmental crisis as the backdrop. Lois Anderson, whose Pericles for Bard in won her a Jessie Award for outstanding direction in the large-theatre category last year, takes the helm.

Advance season packs are on sale as of today here. Flex packs go on sale in November, with single tickets available in April.
