ArtSpring presents dancer and educator Ahalya Satkunaratnam in discussion with Aina Yasué on April 7
ArtSpring, in collaboration with Made in BC Dance on Tour, presents a Zoom talk by dancer and educator Ahalya Satkunaratnam next Wednesday (April 7), followed by a Q&A.
Satkunaratnam--who holds a PhD in Critical Dance Studies from the University of California Riverside--will speak on how activism, academics, and art-practice intersect in a conversation with ArtSpring’s dance-outreach coordinator Aina Yasué.
Also discussed will be Satkunaratnam's dance project Usha/Agni/Vyvastha (Dawn/Fire/Order), and her new book Moving Bodies, Navigating Conflict: Practicing Bharata Natyam in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
