Ballet BC has announced that its 2021-2022 season will feature nine new dance works, all performed live at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.

The season opens November 4 to 6 with Unfold + Give, a program that includes Stadium, a piece choreographed by Toronto's Ethan ColangeloAfter We Glow, by Vancouver’s Company 605; and Lean-to, by local choreographer Lesley Telford. Unfold + Give will also showcase Ballet BC artistic director Medhi Walerski’s GARDEN, a work inspired by Camille Saint-Saëns’ Piano Quintet in A minor, Op. 14 that originally debuted digitally last spring.

“The past year has been challenging for all of us," says Walerski in a press release, "but what has emerged is the necessity to connect with one another. With our upcoming season, we look forward to shining a light on Canadian choreographers and nurturing relationships with world-renowned guest artists, all while also sharing visionary pieces from women in dance.”

Ballet BC's first program of 2022, Reveal + Tell, will run from March 3 to 5 and feature internationally acclaimed choreographers Marco Goecke and Crystal Pite, as well as a new work from Walerski. It will be followed, from May 12 to 14, by What If, which will showcase Vancouver’s Out Innerspace, German choreographer Felix Landerer, and Montreal’s Dorotea Saykaly.
