Festival d’été francophone de Vancouver promotes multiculturalism through music

      From August 26 to 30, Vancouver residents and tourists can livestream or attend organized cultural activities and performances by talented international and Canadian artists. For the 31st year in a row, the Festival d’été francophone de Vancouver will promote connection within the community through colourful multicultural entertainment.

      To follow physical distancing recommendations, each in-person event at Studio 16 will be limited to an audience of 40 ticketholders. For those who are unable to snag a ticket or two, the must-see performances can be livestreamed at

      This year, the festival for francophones and francophiles will showcase more B.C.-based artists than ever before.

      Virtual and in-person attendees can enjoy the jazz-infused pop beats and smooth vocals of , this year’s festival headliner. Les Louanges (otherwise known as Vincent Roberge) is a Quebec-based artist who recently won the 2020 Juno Award for “Best Francophone Album of the Year”. He will kick-off the festival on August 26.

      Versatile Vancouver jazz singer-songwriter Jill Barber will also grace the Studio 16 stage to impress festivalgoers with her sultry and playful use of the French language. Barber will take the mic on August 28 after Alberta-based Sympa César, who’s known for groovy beats and indie rock rhythms that get everyone dancing.

      Other artists performing at the fest include: Alannah Lori & The Mad Affair, ÉEMI, Loig Morin, Kiana Soleil, Kelly Bado, and Matt Stern.

      On the final day, musical duo Brillantine and Grignotin will perform a mini musical for children ages 0 to 10 years old at 1 and 3 p.m. The energetic and attention-grabbing show is called The Fox Family goes on holiday! (La famille Renard en vacances).
