Arts and culture continues despite the ban on public events

Earlier this month, many in the Metro Vancouver arts community were frustrated to learn that the B.C. government is continuing the ban on live indoor events, even as it's considering allowing some sports and religious ceremonies.

Today, provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry loosened the rules around outdoor social gatherings, say up to 10 people  to meet.

They'll still have to be physically distanced and it should be the same 10 people, she added.

That means that the performing arts continue to be offered online, including two events covered in this week's Georgia Straight Talks video: the Coastal Dance Festival and a historic performance of Joe by choreographer Jean-Pierre Perreault.

The video also covers a third event—the Imagine Van Gogh exhibition coming to the Vancouver Convention Centre later this month.
