The Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra has announced that its Global Soundscapes Festival has been reimagined for 2020.

The festival--which celebrates the intersection of Canadian cultures with musical traditions from around the world--will be presented as a series of 16 filmed performances to be released online throughout November.

The featured repertoire will juxtapose traditional music with contemporary intercultural compositions by Canadian composers, including Mark Armanini, Qinglin Bruce Bai, Moshe Denburg, Saina Khaledi, Qiu Xia He & André Thibault, Anthony McNab, John Oliver, Parmela Attariwala, Ali Razmi, Lan Tung, and Jin Zhang.

“The overarching statement we hope to make is: we are here…and we are here together!,” says VICO artistic director Armanini in a press release.

Performers at the Global Soundscapes Festival--which takes place November 5, 12, 19 & 26--will include the Orchid Ensemble, Silk Road Music, and Vashaan Ensemble.
