Every holiday season, The Nutcracker returns to Vancouver with its mix of magic, music and snow-dusted spectacle. And while audiences wait for the curtain to rise at Queen Elizabeth Theatre this December, the Goh Ballet is already getting to work behind the scenes—starting with open auditions for the 2025 cast.

Taking place on April 27 at Goh Ballet Academy, this year’s auditions are open to dancers aged six and up. Whether you're a first-time performer or a seasoned student en pointe, this is your chance to take part in one of the city’s most beloved stage productions. Selected dancers will have the opportunity to perform alongside international guest artists in a full-scale production running December 18 to 21.

Auditions are split into four sessions throughout the day:

      • 11am to 12:30pm: Small Children (ages 6–7)
      • 1pm to 3pm: Tall Children (ages 8–10)
      • 3:30pm to 5pm: Intermediate (ages 11+ who have not yet completed RAD Intermediate or equivalent)
      • 5:30pm to 7pm: Senior (completed RAD Intermediate or equivalent)

Some dancers may be asked to stay for additional audition rounds depending on their experience. Those with pointe training should be prepared to demonstrate their skills during the Intermediate or Senior sessions.

Goh Ballet also encourages any dancers with religious, cultural or accessibility considerations to reach out ahead of time to discuss the dress code or other accommodations.

For young dancers hoping to take the stage in front of thousands, the audition marks the first step toward a truly unforgettable experience.
