Gordon Smith contemporary art gallery to open in North Vancouver

Young people are the target audience of a new contemporary Canadian art gallery opening in North Vancouver.

The Gordon Smith Gallery of Canadian Art, located at Lonsdale Avenue and W 22nd Street, is holding its opening day on Saturday (October 13) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The gallery has a 380-square-metre exhibition space and will be able to show around 60 works in a given show.

It will house the Artists for Kids collection, made up of nearly 500 contemporary works by visual artists like Jack Shadbolt, Robert Davidson, E.J. Hughes, and Toni Onley.

Named after B.C. artist Gordon Smith, the gallery is billed on its website as the “only gallery in Canada dedicated to young audiences”.

Once officially open, the gallery’s public hours will be Wednesday to Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. Admission will be by donation.
