International Women's Day conversation about COVID-19 and the challenges of motherhood on March 8

SFU Public Square will present an online conversation with Amanda Watson on Internatonal Women's Day (March 8).

The author of The Juggling Mother: Coming Undone in the Age of Anxiety will speak about her book and the challenges of motherhood made more daunting by COVID-19.

"The book explores how the popular representation of the contemporary mother--frantically juggling paid labour and unpaid care work--perpetuates established inequities of race, gender, class and ability," reads the event info. "Mothers with the most power are complicit in the exclusion of less privileged ones, but also in their own undoing."

Watson--who is also a lecturer in the Dept. of Sociology and Anthropology at SFU--will read from the book, followed by a conversation with CBC Radio One journalist Michelle Eliot.
