Just for Laughs Vancouver is back and bigger than ever, with the first slate of comedians freshly announced for its 2024 festival.

Comic stars including Bill Burr, Ronny Chieng, Wanda Sykes, and Nicole Byer are coming to Vancouver’s largest comedy festival, which takes over venues across the city every February.

“We’re excited to build on the legacy of consistently delivering top-tier comedy to our city,” says festival director Heather Wallace in a statement. “We take tremendous pride in presenting the world’s biggest comedy stars; artists who are truly making waves across the industry.”

Arena-filling comedian Bill Burr has the biggest pull of the currently announced lineup, headlining a night at Rogers Arena on February 23, 2024 to show off his wide-ranging comedy talents. Burr played the same venue in 2022 as part of his Slight Return tour, building off his four standup specials, a starring role in F is for Family, and his long-running comedy ‘cast Monday Morning Podcast.

Daily Show correspondent Ronny Chieng and Emmy-winning comic Wanda Sykes are both set to do shows at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Star of The After Party Ben Schwartz (Jean-Ralphio to any Parks and Recreation fans) will bring himself and friends to the Orpheum Theatre, while long-time comedian Kathy Griffin, Netflix staple Nicole Byer, and Egyptian satirist Bassem Youssef are all slated to take over the Vogue Theatre with their own comedic stylings.

More intimate shows include Fire Island star Joel Kim Booster and Juno-winning Andrea Jin at the Biltmore Cabaret; whimsical standup Aparna Nancherla and British rising star Mo Gilligan at the Rio Theatre; and social media sensation Tina Friml at The Pearl.

Besides getting in funny folks from out of town, the festival is also dedicated to highlighting hometown comedians in its Best of the West comedy showcase.

Local favourites including Puff the Magic Improv Show, Fistfull of Kicks, Indig-E Girl Comedy, and the Sasha Ha-Ha Show will all be featured in the showcase.

You can check out the full lineup of comedians at Just for Laughs’ website. And stay tuned, as more shows are still yet to be announced.
