A West Vancouver cultural hub has renamed its multipurpose room in the upper lobby area after a major Canadian chartered bank.

The BMO Salon designation was unveiled after the BMO Financial Group contributed $125,000 to the Kay Meek Arts Centre's capital-accessibility improvement campaign.

In addition, BMO sponsored the centre's 2020-21 season.

“This partnership with BMO helps get us closer to completing our accessibility campaign at a time when providing access to arts and cultural events is even more important for the social well being of this community," the capital campaign committee chair, Patricia Bowles, said in a news release.

This isn't BMO's first gift to the Kay Meek Arts Centre. Back in 2006, it was the organization's first major corporate sponsor, presenting a season of shows.

“We are pleased to be expanding our longstanding relationship with the Kay Meek Arts Centre and to support their campaign to provide an accessible community hub for the performing arts in West Vancouver," BMO's head of business banking, Paul Seipp, said in the news release. "Through this donation, we’re working towards building a more inclusive society—a key pillar of BMO’s purpose commitment—by helping to ensure that even more members of our community can come together and enjoy the centre’s performances.”
