Live performances return, as Firehall Arts Centre hosts Music in the Courtyard concerts starting tonight
Those missing live concerts can finally get their socially distanced fix as the Firehall Arts Centre and Hard Rubber New Music announce their Music in the Courtyard series.
Running on weekends through August and September, performances will take place Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m., and Sundays at 3 p.m. (with the exception o September 13, with a show at 7 p.m.).
The programming ranges from jazz to world music.
John Korsrud, Niho Takase, Ronny Swirl, Raphael Geronimo, and Chris Couto kick things off this evening (August 14) with a Cuban-style Latin Jazz Night.
A maximum of 40 people are allowed to enter for each concert. Safe physical distancing rules are strongly encouraged in addition to wearing a face mask. Masks will be available for sale at the door.
The Firehall has hosted two other successful events this summer in the courtyard during Pride and the Dancing on the Edge festival. Both followed the COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocols.
"When planning this music series with Diane Kadota and John Korsrud, I wanted to offer a place where audiences could sit back, relax, and enjoy music from some of B.C.’s finest musicians, and to provide a little joy to people’s COVID lives," Firehall artistic producer Donna Spencer explained of the new concert series in the announcement today.
