You don't have to be an avid follower of contemporary dance to have seen Canadian dance icon Louise Lecavalier in action.

You may have just seen her in a David Bowie video.

Lecavalier--who worked with Édouard Lock and La La La Human Steps from 1981 to 1999 before founding her own company, Fou glorieux, in 2006--appeared in the 1990 "remix" video for Bowie's 1975 hit, "Fame".

Her energetic, acrobatic dance moves arguably stole the spotlight from Bowie, which isn't easy to do.

Two years earlier Bowie had performed with La La La Human Steps in Intruders at the Palace, a benefit concert for the Institute of Contemporary Arts at London's Cambridge Theatre:

On February 26, dance fans will be able to hear Lecavalier speak about her experiences as she takes part in the second session of DanceHouse's Speaking of Dance forum series.

She will be joined in the online presentation by Stephen Page of Australia's Bangarra Dance Theatre and Rodrigo Pederneiras of Brazil's Grupo Corpo.

The free event takes place at 11 am Pacific time and you can register here.
