Michael Bublé didn't write the 1971 hit "You've Got a Friend". Heck, he wasn't even born until 1975.

But as far as Vancouver's Arts Club Theatre Company is concerned, the title of that Carole King song embodies Bublé's relationship with it.

The Arts Club announced today that the superstar vocalist from Burnaby has shown his friendship with the not-for-profit company by creating a personal video to encourage donations to its current fundraising campaign.

"Just know this," says Bublé in his video appeal, "that without places like the Arts Club, there wouldn’t be close to as many opportunities for Canadian artists to learn and work and grow."

“The Stanley opened with the big band musical Swing! featuring the young, talented, charismatic Michael Bublé," recalls Arts Club artistic director emeritus Bill Millerd in a press release. "What a thrill it was to feature Michael on our stage before he stepped into worldwide fame."

After 15 months of suspended operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Arts Club has lost more than $13 million in ticket revenue. Its fundraising campaign runs until July 31, and you can support it here.
