As part of its Opera Speaks series, Vancouver Opera will present a free discussion themed around creative adaptation.

The 90-minute dialogue, taking place on April 22 at the Martha Lou Henley Rehearsal Hall, centres on the nature of adaptation in support of Vancouver Opera's upcoming production of HMS Pinafore.

Moderated by Dave Devau of Zee Zee Theatre, the event will feature panelists Idan Cohen (Ne. Sans Opera and Dance), Howard Dai (rice & beans theatre), Christine Quintana (Delinquent Theatre), Adrianne Wurz (Vancouver Opera), Heather Pawsey (Astrolabe Musik Theatre), and writer JD Derbyshire.

"Panelist JD Derbyshire has been working with Pinafore director Brenna Corner on Pinafore’s script adaptation," says Vancouver Opera general director Tom Wright in a press release. "This is certain to be an interesting dialogue around the nature of adaptation and what can be creatively possible.”

You can learn more about the event on the Vancouver Opera website here.
