Vancouver Outsider Arts Festival returns October 15 to 17
The Community Arts Council of Vancouver has just announced the return of the Vancouver Outsider Arts Festival, which will take place at the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre from October 15 to 17.
The fifth annual event features visual and performing artists facing social exclusion and other barriers to opportunities for art exhibition, performance, and sales. The artists come from a point of view that is outside the mainstream art world trends.
“We’re excited about showcasing the works by over 50+ outsider artists and performers at this point in our cultural landscape," says festival producer and Community Arts Council executive-director Kristin Cheung in a press release.
"With the ongoing pandemic we’ve all felt a bit isolated and separated, but this fall many arts and culture events are re-starting. This is the best time to come together safely and share creativity and expression through arts and culture with our local community."
All events are free and a large portion of net sales goes directly to the artists. An online festival will run from October 27 to December 1.
Note: VOAF will be adhering to the Provincial Health Orders, as an indoor public event with 50+ or more and patrons, artists, volunteers and staff will be required to show proof of vaccination.
