West Coast artists garner Juno nominations

With six nods, Céline Dion leads the pack of this year's Juno Awards nominees. West Coast artists are far from shut out, however.

Crooner Michael Bublé has received five nominations, including album, pop album, single, and artist of the year, plus the fan-choice award.

Other B.C. folks with notable nominations include Sandy Scofield (aboriginal artist of the year), Jeremy Fisher (adult alternative album and new artist of the year), designers Jeff Harrison and Clinton Hussey (for their work with the indie act Vonnegut Dollhouse), the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (with James Ehnes, for classical album of the year, large ensemble with soloist), Brian Doerksen (contemporary Christian/gospel album), Hedley (group of the year), Bob Rock (producer of the year), Rhys Fulber (producer of the year), Nelly Furtado (fan choice award), State of Shock (new group of the year), Matthew Good (rock album), Pride Tiger (rock album), Harry Manx (roots and traditional album, group, with Kevin Breit), John Reischman & the Jaybirds (roots and traditional group), Judy Proznick Quartet (traditional jazz), Michael Kaeshammer (vocal jazz album), Alex Cuba (world music album), and Celso Machado (world music album). The Marianas Trench clip "Shaketramp", directed by Kyle Davison, is up for video of the year. (See below.)
