A new grocery store geared to showcasing local, organic, and sustainable foods has opened in West Vancouver. Fresh St. Market (1650 Marine Drive, West Vancouver), which is owned by H.Y. Louie—owners of London Drugs and IGA—will sell fresh produce, Ocean Wise seafood, artisan cheeses, gluten-free products, baked goods, and hard-to-find products.

“Our goal was to create a food store that was truly ‘fresh’ in the industry with the dynamism of public markets,” Mark McCurdy, a spokesperson for Fresh St. Market stated in a news release on January 9. “We want our customers to feel at home here, with fresh hot coffee and hot bread trolleys, and staff who are personable with passion for food and the knowledge of where our foods come from.”

In addition to being a grocery store, Fresh St. Market will also house a deli and meals-to-go area featuring a salad bar, sandwiches, and dishes created using recipes by Vancouver chef Karen Barnaby, who previously worked at the Fish House in Stanley Park.

yes South surrey certainly could do with some fresh ideas in grocery stores! I'm down with that! This area is rappidly growing and sometimes feels a bit souless with all the strip malls and big box stores. I would cherish a market like store that I could find fresh products and people who actually enjoy working there.
