We recently told you that Ballet British Columbia had been given the nod as one of the top 25 dance companies to watch in Dance Magazine.

Now the American-based web mag Broadway World has singled the troupe out as International Dance Company of the Month, focusing on the way the company is "a leader and resource in the creation, production and education of contemporary ballet".

Yes, things are certainly looking bright for the company: after overcoming the financial struggles of 2008-09, the company is also ready to launch its first tour in years next month, with February dates throughout Ontario, including Ottawa's National Arts Centre and Kingston's Grand Theatre.

Catch Ballet B.C. before it leaves, with one of its best programs in years, Encore, with work by the likes of Jorma Elo (his electric 1st Flash is shown here) and William Forsythe, at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre from January 24 to 26.
