The Georgia Straight presents Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark at the Commodore

Live Nation has announced that British synth-pop group Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) will play a show at the Commodore Ballroom on Friday, April 5, in support of its upcoming album English Electric.

Formed in 1978 and consisting of founding members Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys, OMD is releasing its twelfth album, English Electric, later this year. Featuring synth-pop, electro ballads, and big-sounding club cuts, the new album, according to McCluskey, "has an overarching feel of melancholia, that things haven't turned out the way you wanted them to, whether it be with technology or personal relationships.” 

The band's 1980 hit ‘Enola Gay’ occupied the world’s stage at last year’s Olympics Opening Ceremony. 

Tickets for the show are priced at $32.50 (plus service charges and fees) and go on sale this Friday (February 1) at 10 a.m. on the Live Nation website.
