Mark Brand, owner of Save On Meats and Boneta, has opened a new Gastown restaurant. Portside Pub (7 Alexander Street), which previously house nightclubs The Modern and then The Post Modern, is the city’s newest venue to grab a pint and listen to live music.

With 24 craft beers pumped through 48 taps split across three floors, the main draw at Portside is beer. Twelve Canadian brews include local favourites such as R& B Brewing Co.’s East Side Bitter and Victoria’s Phillips Brewing Co.’s Phoenix Gold lager and Hop Circle IPA. Belgium’s Palm Amber Ale and Delirium Tremens, as well as Germany’s Erdinger Weissbier Dunkel are just a few of the 12 international beers featured.

Cork & Fin’s Elliot Hashimoto and Tyrel Shaw, who has worked at other Mark Brand Inc. establishments, are leading Portside’s culinary team, which will churn out beer-friendly pub favourites, such as pulled pork sandwiches.
