Lorne Mayencourt video jumps the gun on tomorrow's B.C. Liberal nomination vote
There's a video of a former MLA on YouTube claiming that he's "very proud to be the B.C. Liberal candidate in Vancouver–False Creek"—even though the intensely contested nomination won't be held until tomorrow night.
Mayencourt, who represented Vancouver-Burrard from 2001 to 2008, is running against former Vancouver mayor Sam Sullivan and lawyer Brian Fixter for the B.C. Liberal nod in Vancouver–False Creek.
"Hi, I'm Lorne Mayencourt and I'm very proud to be the B.C. Liberal candidate in Vancouver–False Creek," Mayencourt says in the video posted on February 13. "Like you, I need to reach out to my community in all sorts of different ways. And this video is one of those methods."
Mayencourt then offers a strong endorsement to Shaky Egg Communications, which created the video. It's on the Shaky Egg Communications YouTube channel, where videos are posted by company principal Brent Stafford.
"If you'd like to do something similar, please call Shaky Egg at the number that's on your screen," Mayencourt says. "Talk to Brent. He'll make sure that the video is shot and that you look great. Thank you very much, and I look forward to seeing you on May 14th."
The video came to light thanks to someone who posted a comment underneath an article featuring videos of all three candidates for the nomination.
In another video on the Shaky Egg YouTube channel, Mayencourt ackowledges that he's in a tough fight for the support of B.C. Liberals in the constituency.
"To be your B.C. Liberal candidate in May's provincial election, I need your vote on February 20th at the candidate-selection meeting," he says. "We expect a really close nomination race—and your support is vital to our success."

Mayencourt has never -- ever -- been the brightest egg in the basket.

Thank you, Paul.
I added that date above for the video with Mayencourt referring to himself as having won the nomination (I saw that date myself when I first checked on it prior to its disappearance).
And thanks for the link.

Did anyone think to notice it wasn't actually Lorne Mayencourt who posted the videos? Big oops for sure, but someone else's, I think. Nice of the Straight to slag someone the day before an election for something someone else did.

Ace:
It was up for six days. I'm sure that all concerned were aware of this fact.

I absolutely love the irony of all this. Mayencourt is praising the professionalism and competence of a company in a video that itself is accidentally released two days early in the kind of amateur mistake that no company with degree of professionalism or competence would EVER make.

Well, you know who could really help clean up a PR mess like this?

Lorne remains 1 of the only 2 politicians I have encountered during my 24 year residency in BC for whom I am able to retain respect.
I just wish I lived in the False Creek area.
