The Georgia Straight presents Sigur Rós at Deer Lake Park

Live Nation has announced that Icelandic ambient post-rock group Sigur Rós will play an all-ages show at Burnaby's Deer Lake Park on Monday, May 27, as part of the annual Concerts in the Park series.

2013 already promises to be an interesting year in the Sigur Rós universe. Having started 2012 with the largely-untourable Valtari album, they closed with a hometown show in Reykjavík hinting at broad changes to come. Playing the new song “brennisteinn” with Valtari still very much in the air, the band put a marker in the ground for how their world might look as a newly-forged three-piece (without departing keyboard player Kjartan Sveinsson).

Tickets for the show are priced at $55 (plus service charges and fees), with limited Early Bird tickets at $45 (plus service charges and fees), and go on sale this Friday (March 1) at 10 a.m. on the Live Nation website.

Tickets are also available for purchase by phone at 1-855-985-5000 and at all Ticketmaster outlets.
